1. CENO Homepage wallpaper

Vendor: Censorship.no 

Censorship.no is a browser that uses the BitTorrent and Ouinet protocols to access blocked information. Tasks from CENO include: popularization of the browser among non-technical users (memes, video content, cards for social networks); improvement of the Ouinet protocol; development of the CENO plugin for Chrome and more.

Deliverable

Two to five high resolution images (~640 dpi) that can be used as wallpaper for the CENO homepage. At least one image must be suitable for “light mode” and the second for “dark mode”.

Task Success Criteria: A successful pull request to the ceno-browser-v2 gitlab repository adding the wallpaper design.

Ideal team size: 1 person

Prize $100 — $300

Two initial wallpaper designs receive $100, each additional wallpaper design receives $50 each, up to a total of 5 designs.

2. Infographic re-design

Re-design our current infographics to incorporate current CENO branding and to more clearly and simply explain the operation of the CENO network in a single image.

3. Video and image asset narrations and translations, iterations, and memifications for CENO Browser

Deliverable

Create a nontechnical “share the web” “spread CENO” campaign website with a simple elevator pitch of the benefits of surfing in public mode and a call to action to install CENO:

  • Include informative images (infograph style?) that can be easily shared via social media, maybe also create an embedded banner, button, and/or iframe snippet to add to a website.
  • The runners up could still be used, just translate them into a different language and have a few variants for A-B testing

4. Lantern’s Discover UI/UX Improvements

Vendor: Lantern

Lantern’s Discover feature allows producers and consumers to push content on the Lantern Network and consume it away from censorship.

How would you make Lantern’s Discover feature of Lantern more attractive to content creators? Imagine content creators from Russia — a YouTube or Telegram blogger, for example — who face the challenge of potential censorship from the state.

Present 3-5 modifications to the Discover feature to make it more attractive for content creators.

5. Instructions for content producers who are under blocking

Deliverable

A detailed step-by-step guide for media that has been blocked. You can choose the platform for the implementation of the instruction at your discretion.

As well as the publication and promotion of your instructions on the resources of the Teplitsa. Technologies for Social Good (at your request, with attribution or not)

6. Cards

На Связи (Nasvyazi) is a non-profit organization, a team of IT professionals who believe that the Internet should be free and safe. We help solve any digital security issues, from connecting a VPN to protecting your site from attacks.

Deliverable

Develop cards with key information on digital security in Russia today.

7. Stylistics

Develop a style for the telegram channel of the project На Связи (On Connection): card/illustration templates.

8. Conduct a UX/UI audit

Vendor: dComms

dComms is a project from eQualit.ie that allows you to continue communication even when the Internet is out. Now dComms exists in 9 cities of Ukraine. The project provides users with servers for communication in Element/Matrix and Delta Chat, instances in Mastodon and other tools that are resistant to network outages.

Deliverable

Team members must provide a short report with a usability analysis of our project and a prototype for improving the design and user experience, made in Figma.

9. Promoting Element through User Stories

Deliverable

Participants must come up with user scenarios that clearly explain why Matrix may be needed, how it differs from other messengers, and in what cases it can be indispensable. It is desirable that the result be presented in the form of text, as well as cards for social networks or on Figma.
