To help design a pdf-brochure “What to do in case of Cheburnet?” aimed at the audience remaining in Russia. The brochure includes current working VPNs and censorship circumvention tools, security tips and a bonus in the form of research on the speed and connectivity of Runet.

2. How to reach the Russian audience with the new VPN?
A challenge from the Solitech project (a VPN from LEAP team).
The well-known activist technical project Riseup is creating a new multi-protocol VPN, which also focuses on Runet. The task is to come up with an outreach plan for the project. Localization of the name (Solitech, solidarity and technology ideas); a short text about why this VPN is worth using; finding new channels to spread information and attract the audience, taking into account the risk of blocking (“guerrilla marketing”).

3. Video response to anti-VPN propaganda
A challenge from ZaTelecom, eQualit.ie and Teplitsa. Technologies for Social Good
Recently, a sensational campaign against the use of VPNs came out: a series of short videos in which the heroes turned out to be victims of personal data leaks allegedly due to the use of VPN services.
Come up with a counter plot for a parody video and shoot at least one episode (you will have 2 days during the hackathon and 5 days after).
The winning video will be distributed to our resources and partner media.

4. The anti-censorship campaign
How to overcome the preconceptions that “censorship doesn’t affect me” and “I’m fine with it”? How do you communicate the potential and actual harmful effects of censorship? Come up with a campaign plan (online and/or offline) to draw attention to the issue of censorship and its effects.

5. Make a landing page with toolbox of blocking circumvention tools for the mobile game
We develop the game for mobile devices. The player will be «on the dark side»: his goal is to regulate the russian Internet and win over activists and civil society. At the end of the game, there will be a link to a webpage with blocking circumvention tools. The message will be like — «you played as a dictator, but in fact you are a user, and all these blockings, that you made in the gamel, are directed against you. To get around them, use this toolkit». We need to do the design and layout of such a landing page, and it would be great to take part in filling it in.
